While most people are busy going back to work and recovering from the weekend, we always spend Mondays relaxing and doing something fun. Since Daniel has Monday off, it always ends up being a chill day where we spend time as a family and get ready for the week ahead.
Today we decided to take the boys for a walk down the trail at Miner’s Ravine. I’ve been running on the trail a few times before and loved it, so I’ve been telling Daniel we all need to go. The views are beautiful — everything is lush and green, and there’s lots of wildlife to see. The last time Scout and I went running there we saw turkeys, and today we saw a hawk and a snake! I tried to get a good picture of the hawk, but I didn’t have the right lens on my camera for such a far-away shot. Oh well.
Scout loved getting out and about in the sunshine and getting to sniff everything (no surprise there). We let Abel walk around on the side of the trail for a while and he had fun playing with the wheels on his stroller and chasing after people who would walk by with their dogs (lol). He always loves to get out of the house and see new sights, especially if he gets to explore. He hates being strapped into a stroller or carseat for too long.
The weather was so nice, when we got home we spent some time playing in the backyard while Daniel barbecued ribs for dinner. They were so good. Seriously, I never even liked ribs until he made them for me and now I love them. I think I ate almost half of the ones he made tonight. Maybe I can get him to share his recipe some time so I can post it for you guys. No promises though, I don’t know if he’ll be willing to give up his secrets.
Walking up and down the trail was the perfect way to spend the morning and to enjoy this gorgeous, spring-like weather we’ve been having. I hope we can find some more local trails to enjoy. If you know of any in the Sacramento area, let me know!
