I hope everyone had a happy Mother’s Day! I got to spend the morning sleeping in while Daniel made me pancakes, which I ate way too many of. Even though the weather was kind of crummy, I was itching to get out of the house. It rained most of last week and Abel and I were both starting to go stir crazy. Anyway, Folsom Lake is really close to our house and even though we’ve been here almost a year now, we’ve never actually gone to explore the lake, so off we went.
The lake was beautiful and the recreation area surrounding it was full of families with kids and dogs. I told Daniel I can’t wait to go back when it’s warmer so we can barbecue and Abel can get in the water. But this time we just walked around and explored, which turned out to be a lot of fun. Abel loved running around in the sand, putting his fingers in the water, and playing with the big buoys that were sitting on the shore. It was the perfect morning out.
The rest of our weekend was pretty low-key. I got an Amazon gift card as a Mother’s Day gift, so I spent Sunday evening plopped on the couch ordering away. I got the second book in the Outlander series, a parenting book I’ve been wanting to read (How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk), a new planner, and some compression socks.
Is anyone else reading the Outlander series? I am obsessed! I’m also obsessed with planners, pens, and anything that combines handwriting with organization. I swear I will never completely switch over to the digital world. Oh, and if you’re wondering about the compression socks — my doctor recommended that I wear them since I got really swollen and retained a ton of water when I was pregnant with Abel. The compression socks help to keep your feet and legs from swelling, but athletes and runners also use them to help relieve pain and improve circulation to their muscles. I have to admit, I’m more excited to use them for pain relief than for swelling purposes. I’m on my feet chasing Abel around all day long and, honestly, when I finally sit down at the end of the day my legs and feet are throbbing. So I’m really hoping the socks will help with that.
I hope you’re all having a great week. Let me know if you want to talk Outlander 😉
